SketchCrawl 2 Review

I would say that the sketchcrawl was pretty successfull, Charlie Smoke from the Mobile Arts Council said that they had about 39 people register/attended. Considering the other events (Chili Cook-Off & Gumbo Cook-Off) that were going on that saturday, and the glooming start to the day. I figured it was a good number. Maybe they will consider having it at one those events in the future. I want to say thanks to all the people that make this happen I really enjoyed it.

SketchCrawl at Mobile Museum of Art on Feb. 27

Sharpen your pencils, SketchCrawlers, and get ready to enjoy a scenic and inspiring day of drawing at Mobile Museum of Art. Mobile will take its place among more than 80 cities participating in a Worldwide SketchCrawl on Saturday, Feb. 27. We'll gather at MMA around 10am, draw in and around the museum and surrounding park until 3pm, then reconvene in the Museum's education wing for refreshments. During this post-sketching social hour, volunteers will scan and upload sketches to the international SketchCrawl website for anyone who wishes to share the day's drawings with sketchers in other corners of the globe.

Artists of all ages and skill levels are welcome. When you check in at the SketchCrawl desk (inside the education wing) you'll receive free admission to the museum for the day. Inside the exhibit galleries, you are free to sketch with pencil or pens -- but save your watercolors for outside subjects.

See you there!

Participate in Mobile SketchCrawl 2

I'm really glad to see Mobile Arts Council doing this again. I had fun doing it last time but did not have enough time to fully participate. The location is at the Mobile Art Museum. For more information go to the Mobile SketchCrawl website. Please show support for these types of events, so they will keep it doing them. It does not cost except anything and you get free admission for the Museum.

Join sketchers all over the world on Saturday, February 27, as we record what we see in our communities, then share our drawings on the internet. For our second local Crawl (the 26th international Crawl), we're moving from downtown to West Mobile, gathering at the Mobile Museum of Art (4850 Museum Dr.) at 10 AM, sketching in and around it until 3 PM, then coming together again to sip coffee and share the results. We'll upload the drawings for others to see - and in March, exhibit a selection at Mobile Arts Council.

Artists of all ages and all skill levels are invited to participate, and you are welcome to join us at any time before 2 PM, as your schedule permits. Just check in at our desk in the Education Wing - and receive free admission to the Museum. We will be permitted to sketch with pencil or pen (not paints) in the Museum galleries. If you do draw there, please be careful and be mindful of patrons viewing the exhibitions.
