E-Paper's Killer App: Packaging

I know this story is old but, I think that it is really neat.

The cereal aisle at your local supermarket may soon resemble the Las Vegas strip. Electronics maker Siemens is readying a paper-thin electronic-display technology so cheap it could replace conventional labels on disposable packaging, from milk cartons to boxes of Cheerios. I wonder if Adobe is in on this? What kind of format could be used animation formats, could be used? The potental is awesome. But is it possible to recycle this stuff or would it be more fodder for the land-fills? Could you save all of them off the cereal boxes and cover walls? What if the battery leaks? Many questions--but so cool are the possiblities!
